Mr Parit says more support is needed, as weather patterns are not yet promising

Former Kajiado South MP candidate Bishop John Parit has commended the county government and a score of humanitarian agencies working in the county for, “their swift action” in mitigating drought ravaging livelihoods, for thousands of pastoralists.
“Am sincerely grateful to Governor Joseph ole Lenku and the various stakeholders such as Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), for their swift action towards mitigating the effects of this severe drought in Kajiado County.”
Mr Parit’s remarks follow a flagging of a first batch of relief food, worth Ksh75 million, for targeted 20,000 households by the governor, on Tuesday morning.
Late last month, FAO, through its representative to Kenya, Ambassador Carla Mucavi offered to support the County government’s efforts in mitigating drought, by donating 6,000 bags of livestock feed pellets.
The governor had announced that plans are underway to start the distribution of the pellets in an attempt to save hundreds of thousands of emaciated livestock that are on the brink of death.
Mr Parit however called for more support, noting that weather patterns are not promising yet.
“We are still appealing to our Government and all other stakeholders to come out in large numbers to support in providing emergency food relief and livestock feeds at this hour of need. The weather outlook for the next few months doesn’t look promising but we shall make it together. Every effort counts.”
