The County Government has collected Sh875 million in the past Financial Year, a jump of 66 per cent compared to the past year.

In the Financial Year 2021/22, the government collected a total sum of Sh527 million in revenue.

Yesterday, Finance Minister Alais Kisota released the final Revenue results after the year closed its books on June 30.

Kajiado Star has exclusively obtained data on the County’s top revenue earners, a year after a new model was introduced to create directorates of revenue at the sub county level.

Revenue from health facilities remained perched at the top as the highest revenue earner raking in Sh230 million, followed by single business permits which earned Sh222 million.

Sand and ballast which are lumped together under the natural resources category brought in Sh127 million, while levies related to land revenue earned Sh88 million.

Market and cess fees brought a total of Sh84 million and Sh64 million respectively.

Agricultural produce levies raked in Sh36 million.

Mr Kisota said the new figures are expected to double in the next Financial Year following a restructuring of the Revenue Department.

โ€œWe have been in a transitional year and now that we are stable, we shall double this figure in 12 months,โ€ said Kisota.

He said there is a new focus on land rates and land rent revenues which has remained uncollected for years.

โ€œWe now have a system that has documented all land data and land owners will now be billed properly. Many have been willing to pay but there has not been a proper billing system for them. This is now in place,” said Mr Kisota.

In his early days of his second term, Governor Lenku said land rates have been under-collected and declared that in the next one year, the County expected to raise Sh1.5 billion from land rates revenues annually.
